Philanthropic & Investment Overview

VeraCura Health

A New Standard for Cardiorenal Care

VeraCura Health  ·  VeraCura Health Foundation  ·  Confidential  ·  2026

The Problem

A crisis hiding in plain sight

37M
Americans living with chronic kidney disease
$114B
Annual US cost of CKD & related heart failure
0
FDA-approved drugs targeting the apelin pathway

CKD disproportionately strikes low-income communities and communities of color. It is chronically underfunded — receiving roughly $20 per patient in federal research dollars, compared to $2,000 per patient for HIV.

The Science

AP001: A First-in-Class Cardiorenal Peptide

AP001 is a proprietary analog of apelin-13, a naturally occurring peptide that simultaneously protects the heart and kidneys through a single receptor mechanism.

In early research, AP001 has demonstrated:

  • Cardioprotective and renoprotective effects simultaneously
  • Extended half-life vs. native apelin-13 — engineered for clinical use
  • Novel CPET endpoint — the only lab of its kind in US kidney research
  • 11 analog iterations — years of preclinical refinement
  • Active NIH NHLBI R01 funding supporting the science

Structure

Two Complementary Entities

VeraCura Health and the VeraCura Health Foundation work together — one to build the company, one to fund the science and serve patients. Your support can flow to either or both.

VeraCura Health

Delaware C-Corporation · For-Profit

  • Develops and commercializes AP001 and future cardiorenal therapeutics
  • Licensing AP001 from Indiana University

Investment Opportunity

We are raising a $500,000 seed round to fund IND-enabling studies, analog optimization, and regulatory strategy. Investments are separate from and independent of any philanthropic gifts to the Foundation.

Equity

Common or Preferred Stock

Become a founding shareholder. Equity investors participate in value creation through future funding rounds, partnership milestones, trade sale, or IPO. Terms set at close of seed round.

Convertible Note

Debt with Conversion Right

A loan to VeraCura Health that converts to equity at the next priced round, typically at a discount to the round price. Includes interest accrual and a valuation cap. Common for early-stage companies.

SAFE

Simple Agreement for Future Equity

A Simple Agreement for Future Equity provides economic rights similar to a convertible note without the debt structure. No interest, no maturity date. Converts at the next priced round.

Investment involves risk. Past scientific results do not guarantee commercial success. Please consult your financial and legal advisors before investing.
